TEAM NEWS: Morrison gets nod from Malpas
CALL: Sean Morrison
CALL: Sean Morrison

SEAN Morrison has been summoned to the first team squad for the visit of Huddersfield.

The youth team defender has impressed Maurice Malpas sufficiently to earn the nod, with Pat Kanyuka not fit for tomorrow's League One clash after sustaining a groin injury in the defeat to Leeds on Saturday.

Town will also be without midfielder Michael Pook who has a dead leg.

There are further doubts over Jamie Vincent (groin) and Christian Roberts, who collected a knock at the weekend.

Is the bandwagon going round again first we want to save the club, then we want players coming through the system when we have them people keep moaning
As for some of the others why do you bother are you just big game supporters after the Leeds game you won't be back until we get a big team in the cup then claim you have been behind the lads since the year dot
Please support the club

@jantheman i go to every home game and away games when i can so i guess I got a right to moan, and i will be there again tomorrow night getting behind the lads but i still want malpas out, about sean ive seen him play a few times he is pretty decent but as we are low on confidence im not sure now is the right time to play him. This may damage the lads confidence if we get stuffed, also i hope there is no hidden agenda here like trying to bump his value up then selling him.Dont forget a lot clubs have been sniffing around our youths.

cmon you reds

Hi Russ Respect i agree you have the right to moan the only reason for caution is that AF has appointed MM therefore we have to go with his Judgement for now

Once again I feel sorry for Chris Blackburn. The guy hasn't really been given a decent opportunity & with the young lad being brought in as a possible defending replacement for kanyuka, it doesn't look like he'll get a chance at all. Maybe he should have moved on when he got the opportunity in the transfer window.

I see what your saying jan and normally i would give anyone a chance,if we played well and lost i wouldt mind and i wouldt moan.i just dont think he is upto it ask the mothrwell fans what they think.

There have been a lot of comments saying MALPAS OUT, and others saying stop moaning, get off his back......but no comments as far as I am aware saying Malpas is great, doing a good job..WHY IS THAT THEN?!!!
Posted by: swindon_lad, Swindon on 4:53pm Mon 3 Mar 08
My guess is, most of you moaners haven't seen this kid play?

Hes a good player, and has potential - Ben Tozer was the same, and no one moaned about him being played, yet Morrison is probably about as good as Tozer.

I feel sorry for Robbo. I think he is one of our most talented players. He just needs to be played in the right position, a decent ball played to his feet or just in front of him & a manager that can get motivate him. Its not that complicated....is it?

I agree. He's capable of so much more than what he's up to at the moment.

& I can't help thinking he's right footed and should be playing on the right. But I do have these zany ideas sometimes.

What can I say that hasn't been said, if the Swindon players read all this negativity then good - we have not been good enough since Sturrock left, that isn't a coincidence, I still believe that we need to support Malpas and will still say that I would rather have Malpas as manager and Fitton as chairman, Than Sturrock as manager and that pish poor shower running the club before....We are going to have a future so trust AF I am sure if MM isn't up to the job then he will see that too, just keep supporting the boys, good Luck to Sean if he plays and I agree about Roberts he has loads of talent but should score more goals !!!!

i personally think they got him on the cheap, cheap wages, he has nothing to show that he is a good manager, the bloke looks a ****, i havent been to see the town play since the last day in div 1,couldnt get a ticket for any game when in premiership, followed them from 77 up till then, home and away, wont go nowhere with someone like that, and these players these days, thi9nk too much of themselves, bring players in who want to earn their money and play for the club
Posted by: eikifr, Denmark on 6:32pm Mon 3 Mar 08
Are there only bunch of idiots who support football club nowadays?!?! You hated the former owners for some reason and now everything is great because we have new owners with more financial sense. Now, the new manager is no good and everything back to being not so great! No wonder this club is suffering if the fans are so much "behind" the team! Bring your head out of your arses and start supporting instead of whining!
Posted by: eikifr, Denmark on 6:33pm Mon 3 Mar 08
one more....

Have you guys seen that youngster play? I really like that he at least gives the youngsters a chance to shine before they are all bought for peanuts by the big clubs! The manager has got some balls unlike many others!

Truth is we aren't playing well with the same set of players who have played ok this season. we have lacked a punch all year, not becuase of strikers but becuase of the rubbish service they have to feed off.

AF must think he is up to the job because from a list of candidates, he appointed him just a few months ago !
Like you and me, MM is just doing his job the best way he can and unfortunately for us, that's scottish lower league standard.
Fitton is more to blame than MM because he made the choice !!
And, why is there no communication coming out of the club ? - with all this anxiety amongst fans, surely a reassuring message from Fitton was called for some weeks ago !
Fitton is off to a bad start as the new owner but is it just bad judgement or is it he can't be assed.
I am worried that we are back on the slippery slope with owners whose first priority isn't the football club.
Communicating with fans isn't rocket science is it !!!!!!!!!
Posted by: trigger, Hampshire on 7:43pm Mon 3 Mar 08
Whilst we are all entitled to our opinion, I've got to say some of our fans are making themselves sound pretty thick of late and it is difficult to read some of these comments after what the club has been through over the last year. I can't say i'm convinced by MM yet but I WILL NOT write him off yet.
Anyone who knows an ounce about football would realise our team/Squad are not good enough to be promoted or reach the play offs this year... What is wrong with trying to get a settled side and 'consolidate' this term and see what Malpas does in the summer. There's nothing wrong with giving some of the younger guys some experience, now is as good a time as any! I know there is never a truer saying than football fans being fickle and I am frustrated too but remember where we were a few weeks ago and give them time to prove themselves.. Judge at the start of next season!
Posted by: janaageaeroplane, London on 7:44pm Mon 3 Mar 08
I put this on the other thread but I'll repeat it here. We need a bit of perspective.

Malpas has had eleven games. If you leave out the cup match, he’s played 10.

That’s won 3, drawn 3, lost 4. Losses have been to Leeds (8th, but 2nd if you include their deductions), Forest (4th), Walsall (5th) and Huddersfield (15th).

So three of our four defeats have to been to the best teams in the league. We had three draws against ordinary teams (Oldham ,Crewe and Northampton). We’ve beaten one good team (Forest) and two bad teams (Cheltenham and Luton).

This is hardly a club in crisis. We're a mid-ranked team that beats bad teams, draws with ordinary teams and loses to good teams. Sometimes we beat good teams (Forest). Sometimes we lose to bad teams (Huddersfield).

And none of you being hysterical is going to change any of that.

I agree with whoever wrote about Blackburn though, I think he deserves a decent go.

I WANT TO SUPPORT THE MANAGER BUT I STRUGGLE WHEN HE MAKES DECISION LIKE DROPPING BREZNOVAN .THE LAD IS GOING TO BE A TOP DRAW KEEPER AND THE MANAGER DROPS HIM FOR ONE SO CALLED MISTAKE !!! I WILL BE STUNNED IF HE IS NOT BACK IN TOMORROW . SMITH IS OK BUT BREZ IS JUST SO IMPOSING.GET HIM BACK BEFORE HE GETS FED UP AND LEAVES IN THE SUMMER

This is 100% wrong.

- He has saved the club and brought in some serious investors.
- Said what 10 things he's going to sort out.
- Sorted out all the legal nonsense with the revenue
- Appointed a manager and a chief exec.
- Made money available to sign a decent player
- Shut up about team affairs and stood by his manager

This site is full of 10 year olds with Tourette's who have never run a bath, let alone a business. I can only hope the players don't read it.

I know the players do actually read these boards and I'm glad they do.
If we don't do our jobs properly, most of us deal with customers who take us to task. Footballers shouldn't be immune from the same - we are their customers and if they perform as though they don't give a s**t, we have every right to say so ! - footballers need a dose of the real world !
And whilst you might not agree with other's opinions, have the courtesy not to be so offensive please !
Posted by: janaageaeroplane, London on 8:25pm Mon 3 Mar 08
Calm down dear. If you want I'll send Andrew Fitton round to hold your hand until you stop crying.

If you want people to be less offensive, take a look at your own posts.

Anyone who says Fitton is off to a "bad start" and "can't be assed" (your words) barely deserves to be called a fan and certainly doesn't know anything about business.

Swindon supporters please join together we have a new owner a new manager, 9/10 games ago we thought we might not have a club look what has happened to Luton and so on
Whilst all these stay away fans won't come back until we are top of the league in reflection mid table was our aim this season
We could have gone for another wannabee AKA Wise etc and they would have left the club at the first sniff of a bigger club coming in. As for the Fans that have stopped going we are never going to get higher up the table until you start coming back or are we all waiting for one of the so called big 4 in the cup then 40000 claim they have been going every week for the last 10 years bigger crowds supporting the club will bring success

No wish to blow my own trumpet janaageaeroplane, but I am actually a company director, so I think I know a little bit.
And by the way, you are completely wrong about AF sorting out the legal and IR issues - he has quite litterally just bought some time with them.
When you get a bit older and leave school, you'll understand about respect and tolerance of others, I hope.
We might not agree with each other but we have a shared interest and half the fun of being a football fan is debating that in an appropriate way.

It's a bit late to get pompous, dearest Mr Wantage.

What I understand about respect and tolerance is that it's earned.

I'm not saying everything's perfect. (I'm sure they are still agreeing a schedule with the Revenue and I don't see why Brez isn't playing) but your accusations about Fitton are unfounded and unfair, especially when you consider what he's actually done.

And what's more, he's only been here three months.

So well done, you're a company director. All that tells me is that you should know better.

We'd better change the subject before the sun comes up and there's handbags! Excluding half a dozen or so championship games on Saturday we had the highest attendance outside of the premiership! Curiously i found the atmosphere was far from electric, can i assume that we had a small proportion of town fans that only came to see Leeds? Maybe they couldn't get a ticket for stratton bank, or their first team (Man U) weren't on TV!??

I dont think fans turned up just to see Leeds. They turned up to see town playing a big club (Leeds are still a big club despite the position they are in). There were also large crowds for the matches against Forest and Swansea on New Years Day. I personally am not fussed about going again until we play Millwall at home, simply because the rest of the home fixtures look pants & I'd rather save my money. When we get promoted I will probably go more regularly.

AF said when he took over the club that winning back the supporters with good communication, was high on the new boards list of priorities. AF has kept quiet so as not to undermine Malpas in his position as manager.I believe in the integrity of AF, but hope he does not leave the clubs communication with supporters soley with Malpas because from what we have seen so far, Malpas is a very poor communicator.A few words of reassurance from AF would go a VERY LONG WAY.

I still do not have a great deal of confidence in the manager(why drop Brez) unless the rumours are true????
as for the rest of the team, they appear to be eally down and dont feel MM is the type of manager to get them going, have been little disappointed in Simon Cox, however strikers go through dry periods,

So "REDS PLS DO IT THIS EVENING"

Fair play to eikifr!!! He is spot on!!! STOP BEING SUCH A BUNCH OF TOSSERS AND START SUPPORTING YOUR CLUB!!

Ok, so none of us are impressed by Malpas at this junction But AF has employed him and that should be enough. The players are the ones letting all of us down at the moment and need to ask themselfs do i want to play for for this club? If Malpas is still under achiving 10 games into next season i'm sure AF will deal with it!!! Stop moaning like a bunch of schoolgirls and start supporting......
