Youth final turns into a light-mare
TOWN have been accused of wrecking the County Ground dreams of a group of youngsters - after a floodlight cock-up left their blue riband county cup final in darkness.
Tuesday night's Wiltshire Youth Cup final between Wroughton and New College was abandoned at 1-1 after 90 minutes in semi-darkness - with Town officials apparently unable to switch on the lights.
The League One outfit and the Wiltshire FA insist the abandonment was caused by a "communication breakdown" involving a missing set of keys, leaving both clubs furious the "shambles" had ruined their boys' big day.
Wroughton chief Bobby Moore even accused the club of penny-pinching, after kick-off was brought forward 15 minutes on arrival due to an apparent unwillingness to turn on the lights.
The tie is expected to be replayed next week at Melksham Town's Conigre - with dreams of lifting silverware on the County Ground hallowed turf seemingly destroyed.

Surely the club were unwilling to switch on the lights because as they have said, they didn't have the keys!!
Highly embarrassing for the club though, I'm sure Nick Watkins will be on the case, damage limitation.

It is clear to see that even with new brooms in place old STFC penny pinching habits die hard!

After reading this article I feel Mr Moore should take some of the blame. He booked the County Ground for 6pm & didn't even tell the clu they needed use of the floodlights. At this time of year it's not getting dark until 9ish. You can point your finger all you like Bobby Moore but the some of the blame has to be taken by the clubs playing the competition for the lack of communication to Wiltshire FA & STFC

You boys are being harsh its not often that u get too play on the "hollowed" turf and most of us would jump at the chance, why is the reply not being played at the CG as well??? And whoever said why did the final no finish at 1-1 after 90 mins, is clearly inept!
