'Miguel is one to watch, but so are our youngsters'

MIGUEL Comminges has a big future in English football according to one of the players he looks set to leave behind.

The Guadeloupe international is expected to move into the Championship this summer, with Cardiff City the likely destination, and Town teammate Michael Timlin is confident he can only get better.

Arriving at the County Ground from French Ligue Two outfit Reims in the summer, the 26-year-old was a late starter in English football, but Timlin insists the only way is up.

He said: "Everyone wants to achieve big things in their career and you can't hold him back if he gets the opportunity to play in a higher league.

"It is Miguel's first season in English football and things are only going to get better for him."

While Comminges's departure will be a loss, Timlin is excited about a string of young prospects on the County Ground production line.

With 17-year-old Sean Morrison starring on Saturday and fellow youth teamers Nathan Thompson, Kurt Hammonds and Ben Joyce on the bench, Timlin knows Town's post-Comminges future still looks bright.

He said: "Sean Morrison did really well. He had a nervy few minutes but he settled down and played really well. He showed people he is capable of playing in this league with ease.

"The boys have got something to play for because they know the opportunity is there for them to get into the first team.

"It is good the boys know the gaffer will give them a chance and it is just down to them now."
