Wray confirms Town's transfer embargo (From This Is Swindon Town FC)

I'd like to read a transcript of Paolo's post match interview. He sounded a lot more conserned than Mr Wray, who seemed to want to play it down. Did I hear Paolo say 'maybe they have to sack Paolo'?

No panic,im actually glad that this wage cap thing is in place,it should go further up the ladder though imo and i bet a few Pompey fans would agree better late than never.

Jeremy Wray explained that the situation was not unusual and fully expected the situation to be resolved sooner than later..We must remember this 65% is for the benefit of the clubs who might want to overstep the mark in chasing the dream.Perhaps Paulo should think twice of about signing loan players who are not part of his immediate plans rather than leave a bit of slack in the system for emergencies.

Paolo was doing his usual post match ranting and I think we're all getting used to it now. He did say the sack thing but he also said he has loyalty and will be putting in 48HR days if he can't get more players instead of 24HR days. If anything the interview was re-assuring in that he voiced his commitment to our club.

Agree with above posts, best chairman and storm in tea cup. Let's just focus on Coventry.

Just hope it all works out ok.I think Crawley had a stuation similiar last season and the Board made more cash available.As JW said it is a about cash and it can be resolved.
Maybe it will make Pdc think before bringing in players who are not used,Bostock is an example if he will not oplay him send him back to spurs.
Is worrying however reading JW's article he seems to think this will be sorted so let's all hope it blows over

If the people concerned are guilty of anything its more about nievety around the rules and the workings of the tribunal and how tribunal payments are made. They have made a small error which has disrupted cash flow. I dare say that will be rectified shortly. I agree with the comments above, but even so the interview with Paolo was strange even by his standards.
How many players does he need OR want...? It's not always as simple as getting in yet more. Personally I still feel we didn't need the 5 on deadline day..... 2 or 3 at most BUT 5? In this case we would still have room to pick in 1 or 2 in specific positions to cover injury etc..... It is called emergency loan for a reason.
Why did Paolo mention about the board sacking him? Very strange....

I think making clubs more responsible for their expenditure is great and should be across all leagues.
I know I'll get shouted down for my views.... Yes, Paolo has done some great things for the club (and a few iffy decisions in my opinion) but I do get a little tired of these half spoken 'threats' to quit when he doesn't get exactly what he wants. Acting like a spoilt child doesn't endear me to him.
If he settled down with the team he has and lets the football do the talking that would be good enough for me.
I don't doubt his passion, just not sure of his agenda sometimes. I would love him to stay for 5 years and get us in a great position in the Championship and with Jeremy Wray on board club stability for the long term.

It's ridiculous transfer fees aren't all paid up front. Mike Ashley gets a lot of stick but he's been trying to change the premier league rules. Just as ridiculous the football administration rules that protect football debts above all else.

Good shout about us being 4th and not being anywhere near first gear,i am very happy with today's result,i cant talk about performances as i wasn't there but 3 points was all we could achieve today and that's what we got,we move on.My next game is Stevenage and i hope we are up and around second place by then,lets go on a unbeaten run like last season.

PDC really does need to calm down a bit. I listened to the full interview and I found much of it very difficult to follow. What is the big deal with being unable to make emergency loan signings anyway? We're fourth in the table after 10 games, with a big squad - hardly a state of emergency.

Den totally agree no drama. Big squad long way to go. We were ten points behind Crawley, in 5th place, mid January - no dramas at all. We got turned over when terrible against Colchester but they hardly had a chance. Sounds similar again today.

Clean sheets win you leagues as does playing not at your best and winning 1 nil away when you have a number of injuries. The vino tastes mighty fine tonight....

Jeremy said beating Villa will go along way to resolve the situation. A few more on the league gate wouldn't go amiss either. Nearly 6k season ticket holders is an improvement on last season, expect at least a 9k - 10k attendance next Saturday for Coventry, they took 8k to Arsenal in their cup tie. Hope they bring a few and open the bank.

Very good OTR our home attendances have surprised me a little to be honest and J Wray, A Fitton and N Watkins have all said in the past that we need to support the club by attending if we want to compete with other clubs and there budgets.They could of done no more in my eyes if you ask me,like you say nearly 6 thousand S/ticket holders and that means only about another twelve hundred paying on the door,after all that's happened in the last 18months i would of thought we would be attracting at least another 6 hundred to a thousand more each game.If things go to form we will outclass outplay and out score Coventry, fingers crossed.

Got to speak with the Coventry scout after the Colchester game, in his opinion if our wing play is nulified we are very ordinary, of course he did see us on a bad day, so looking for a better performance against them. At least we have a weeks rest to give the walking wounded to recover.

Lots of very good comments on here. But that's maybe because all the sensible posters seem to have herded together here, Wildebeest-like, yesterday at the same time.

These wage cap rules are great and need to be enforced across all leagues and all sports.

Paolo needs to concentrate on coaching players and building their confidence when we hit times of 'crisis'. We've got a decent squad. If we need someone to go shopping every time, then I suggest the club employs my girlfriend.

We never see the figures, but the amounts we have had to pay off players' contracts who were mistakes or misfits must add up to an ugly looking number.

The only way we can really compete IS to get attendances up, and the lack of response to the club's success is the most disappointing thing for me.

On the formation, I agreed with this for ages. When teams work out how to close down our wingers, there is no Plan B. Even Chesterfield worked that one out and won the JPT FFS (sorry for two initialisms in succession).

That's why I'm Baffled by Bostock. Switching to a 4-3-3, pushing one winger further forward and having an extra (attacking) midfielder is just the type of Plan B I'm talking about and I cannot understand why we haven't mixed things up and got him more game time. At this level he could be explosive.

And if we're not going to play him, then refer back to the wage cap problem.

My only concern about this embargo is , what if Fodders gets injured or banned ?
We have cover all over the park except in goal where we only have the inexperienced Bedwell.

Being hit by injuries and suspensions should tell us all how good PDC is as a manager operating with a depleted squad.

Its the same for everyone although we operate at a much higher capping figure than many. It is an opportunity for such as Storey to get some match time. What a waste that he is not playing at this stage of his development. Bedwell also needs game time. Hopefully we can get a couple of goals ahead and put him in. How about Louis Thompson. More an opportunity than a crisis to me.

IF he is so hard done by as he points out he should try manager a club that has alot lot less than Swindon has to spend...

ANYONE CAN BE A GOOD MANAGER WHEN THE FUNDS ARE THERE..

Its not like we have a small TEAM is it ?.

We have a squad of 26 players and yes we will get injuries.

Macari proved what a great manager he was on no budget at all.

Paolo has done great and we all love his enthusiam and we are in a superb position at the moment 4th.
To be honest i think asking for more money at present to make more loan signings isn't good for the club as a whole.

The board have to draw a line somewhere to be fair.

I hope Paolo can work with the players we have Bostock hasn't hardly featured yet,Rooney could be re-called back it could be his chance to prove his worth.

Lets hope Paolo can work with this squad as alot of Managers would love what he has at his disposal.

Im looking forward to the Coventry game should be a decent crowd as they should bring 2000.

In Paolo we trust onwards & upwards with the squad we have when the going gets tough the tough get going!

The board have been excellent in backing PDC and now, even with a big squad, he requires more.If the players are not good enough, send some out on loan and bring in new ones. No point in just adding to the squad. I agree with other posters that it is now time to use his managerial and coaching skills to ensure that we do continue the push for promotion. The majority of the players were signed by himself and now is the time to have a settled side and not keep making many changes for the sake of it. Why is Bostock not playing as they were desperate to sign him. If he is not to be considered, then send him back and save some money. In my opinion, Flint and Ferry should start every game if fit. Flint is an excellent defender and most of the succes has been with him alongside Macca.
Heres hoping for a big win against CCFC on Saturday??
