SWINDON TOWN: Connell and Cox leave Town

ALAN Connell has joined Bradford after seeing his contract with Swindon Town cancelled by mutual consent.

The striker has signed a two-year deal at Valley Parade.

Meanwhile, midfielder Lee Cox has moved on loan to Oxford.

The former Inverness man will remain with the U’s until January.

I take it the mutual consent hasn't cost us anything?
.
As granted him a free transfer is one thing but paying him to leave would be stupid!

I wish them all well in their new clubs and hope they have a decent first season at the very least.

I think Connell will do well at Bradford under Phil Parkinson, a chap many figured may come here one day, not so long ago.

Cox may find it difficult with crowd resentment with The Pox, but I'm sure he has had worse, so best of luck to him as well.

I totally agree LR......
.
Giving him away is bad enough....
.
But paying him to leave on top is taking the P**s......
.
Bradford are a big club in L2 and hopefully they could get near to matching his wage demands without us providing an additional sweetener.
.
But still think they have got a steal without a fee in ur favour.

Why haven't we got any money for him? Not best pleased with that.

Decent move for Alan. I think Paolo got this one right. Cox however is interesting. Dropped after 4 games and never got a look in after that. I think going out on loan is a good idea as maybe we have not seen the best of Lee Cox yet.

London Red says...
8:36pm Fri 20 Jul 12

That's good then that is just a freebie
.
PdC said why he went on a free - it was a sort of thank you for his effort last year
.
He said we could have easily asked for £20k, £30k, £50k but we said no as we want help him to find a new club
.
It now means he is off our books which gives us room to bring that last player or 2

Shame to see Connell go, I feel we played our best football last year when he played, he always wanted the ball to feet and provided a good link between midfield and attack... Also he does it when it counts and that shows guts, shame he's gone... As for cox he definetly deserves more of a chance than he got.

Being able to spell properly,or knowing where a comma, full-stop,and capital letters go mean diddly squat to me jock, i don't care what you thought i was or wasn't, this started by you poking your nose in where it wasn't necessary or needed, the family that is Romain are the salt of the earth, you don't know them, so you judge someone on there ability to sound intelligent with the written word, that's your downfall not mine.So leave out the "i thought you were better than that" i really and truly couldn't give a shat,in truth you know very little of what sort of man i am,but loyalty is near the top of the list if i was bothered to try to explain who and what makes me tick.

Malkym says...

"so you judge someone on there ability to sound intelligent with the written word, that's your downfall not mine" -well it certainly helps Steve! BTW in your sentence above you should have used THEIR instead of THERE as in their house, or their ability, as opposed to for example, "the dog basket is over there" :))

Romain and co. may well be the salt of the earth to use your words, I just said, and I stand by it, that anyone who resorts to using childish abusive language when referring to any opposition side demonstrates a lack of maturity and to me comes across as "your stereotype football fan" -not blessed with a great vocabulary and unable to appreciate that other teams can be equally as good as the one they support.

Just my opinion - like you I also don't give a flying fig whether anyone arees or not!

How annoying are mosquitoes!
I'm take it you are a wealthy, well to do sort of chap jock who has taken advantage of the MASSIVE IQ you have. You are far to intelligent to be posting on the same site as us, C'mon start ar$e tell me what your ability to know what there or their to use has got you? i don't have to know the difference, i have staff who do that for me but only when its needed, not on a football comments page where a old man insists on belittling others, now you have the last word Jock,i know you will anyway! Mosquitoes are annoying like that.

The nuts and bolts are you poked your oar in where it wasn't needed but you are very good at that eh Malky.

Wound up??? see Jock you cant help yourself can you, reading too much into things again, for your information I'm amusing myself, making a few bob and enjoying the glorious weather.

I have all the sprays like jungle formula jock but i have this one irritating breed that keeps trying to nibble away at me, i would normally just swat them but i cant seem to see where they are, smart arse things they really are.

Finally whether i agree with what he said or not is irrelevant a man is entitled to say what he likes, is he not? it was not aimed at you, someone else had already called him a name for posting what he did, leaving me wondering why you thought you needed to say it again or why you feel you should be allowed to name call but when others do it you, its wrong?
Please feel free to answer this one question at least.

Malkym says...
4:30pm Tue 24 Jul 12

"someone else had already called him a name for posting what he did, leaving me wondering why you thought you needed to say it again"

- Because I agreed with them that it was a foolish remark - IMO - simples! and you surely have to understand my point, even if you disagree with it of the fickle nature of some fans e.g Cox was perfectly ok when he wore red but as soon as he changes to yellow he becomes persona non grata. In my mind the guy is only trying to do the best for himself(let's face it he wouldn't have gone if Paolo still wanted him) - the same as anyone in any other walk of life would do -including your mate Romain -so therefore I find such comments rather juvenile - but I never said he couldn't say them or not be allowed to. But like all other topics on here he should expect to have some that disagree.

Methinks on this occasion you might have got a tad irate because it was a mate of yours that was criticised? - we all do it to a degree I think.

There we are, think we've done this to death now!

Steve. Brentford says...
5:38pm Tue 24 Jul 12

Of course it was because it was a friend of mine jock if it wasn't i wouldn't be able to defend the name calling,so even if as you say such comments are rather juvenile then say so without name calling."I thought better of you than that".
Agree its done to death and except you will not admit you were wrong, which ever way you look at it,you unneccassarily called names instead of giving your opinion in a reasonable manner, with that m`lord i rest my case.
