TOMMY Miller has hinted that he won’t be the last new name on Swindon Town fans’ lips, as Paolo Di Canio continues to remould his squad ahead of next season.

Miller, whose move to Town slipped under the radar in recent days, was announced as a Swindon player on Thursday after penning a one-year deal at the County Ground.

The former Huddersfield and Ipswich man might be one of manager Paolo Di Canio’s six summer signings to date, but he has suggested that the Italian’s shopping spree might still not yet be over.

“The manager doesn’t seem to be finished yet in terms of signings and I am sure there is going to be hard work ahead in pre-season,” he said.

“We start next Wednesday and it will be straight back into it before we go to Italy.

“I am very excited and can’t wait to get started in pre-season. I came down and met the manager on Tuesday and he told me all about his plans for the club and I was impressed with what’s ahead. I am pleased to be joining.”

Miller has plenty of experience of the Football League, and he was part of the Huddersfield side that secured promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs in May.

But he revealed that he was partly enticed into a move to Wiltshire by the memories of the Terriers’ 4-1 defeat at the County Ground in the first round of the FA Cup in November last year.

“I played against Swindon last season for Huddersfield in the FA Cup - I was impressed with how Swindon played and they have some good, young, attack-minded players,” he said.

“Hopefully my experience can help the younger lads that are here.

“Gary (Roberts) is someone who I was with at Ipswich Town and Huddersfield.

“He’s a good friend of mine and a good player. It will be good to play alongside him again.”

Tommy sounds to me like a bit of a "Warrior", who will bring stability and experience to a rather young Town squad; and could well prove to be the unsung hero of all our exciting new recruits.
Welcome to Swindon Town Tommy !
