SWINDON Town will look to tie up deals for Jay McEveley and John Bostock in the coming days, manager Paolo Di Canio has confirmed.

The Robins boss, who signed a new two-year extension to his contract at the County Ground on Wednesday, has said he is interested in sealing a permanent deal for full-back McEveley following a successful loan spell towards the end of last season.

McEveley is currently a free agent after his release from Barnsley in April and Di Canio hopes he has more joy in securing the 27-year-old’s signature than he had in his pursuit of winger Lee Holmes, who has joined Preston despite interest from Town.

“He (McEveley) is one target,” said the Italian. “It’s obvious because he was here, and I want to speak to him. He is one target - like Holmes, he is one that we will try to keep in here.”

Meanwhile, Di Canio stressed that he would like to see Tottenham midfielder Bostock return to Wiltshire on a temporary basis.

Bostock made four appearances for the Robins during a six-week loan spell last term, but Di Canio admitted his Premier League salary could prove a stumbling block.

“It’s obvious that I like him, it’s obvious that he belongs to Tottenham, it’s obvious that he has big wages and he’s young,” he said.

“It’s obvious that if Tottenham like to see their player improve, they should give us in a good condition with a good, fair price because they are sure that, under me, he can become a real footballer.

“I can’t tell the exact wages he’s got but they are very high for a young talented player. We will discuss also about this situation.”

Bostock added a cryptic edge to the speculation regarding his future on Wednesday night, when he took to Twitter to say: “Getting loads of tweets from Swindon fans asking if im coming back next season. All I can say is "We will see" But I think I know the answer.”

Meanwhile, the Advertiser understands that Eunan O’Kane remains on Town’s radar as the Robins begin to compile their list of transfer targets for next season.

Torquay’s Irish midfielder is believed to have a release clause of just under £200,000 written into his current contract at Plainmoor.
