Town reserves suffer Newport defeat

ETIENNE Esajas played 45 minutes as a youthful Swindon Town side lost 2-0 to a strong Newport County in a development match today.

The visitors took the lead on the half hour when Town failed to deal with a cross and a County player drove home.

Both sides made changes at the interval and the Robins pressed for an equaliser, but instead conceded a second with one minute remaining when they Paul Bodin's side again failed to clear.

Ibrahim Atiku and Matt Clark both had 90 minutes while Jordan Pavett, who on Thursday will join Newport on loan, played 70 minutes.

Swindon Town XI: Bedwell; Murdon, Oakley, Chapman, Sim; Atiku, Clark, Grant, Esajas; Pavett, Storey.

Substitutes (all used): Thompson (GK), Stevens, Whitehead, Francis, Thompson L, Simpson, Ferguson, Waldon.
