FABIO Ferreira could be offered another chance to stake a claim for a permanent Town contract against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The former Chelsea forward played 56 minutes on the right hand side of midfield as Swindon beat Cirencester Town 2-1 in a friendly on Tuesday night.

And manager Danny Wilson has hinted that the 21-year-old Portuguese trialist will get some game time against in their latest warm-up match against Forest at the County Ground this weekend.

“Wingers need to run the ball, and (at Cirencester) everytime he had the chance to run the ball it just got caught in the grass,” explained Wilson.

“It’s difficult to judge, but from his point of view he worked very hard, he’s got a trick up his sleeve but whether or not he’s what we’re looking for we’ll just have to wait and see.

“We may just keep him for Saturday and have another look where he’ll be on a totally different stage against a different animal that we’re playing against on a better pitch.

“Chelsea paid £200,000 for him and he got lost in the club. He wants another crack at it over here. We talked to people about what kind of player he is and we’ve got nothing to lose to have a look at him.”

Meanwhile, Wilson doesn’t expect to sign either Yoann Arquin and Kiernan Hughes-Mason, who spent time on trial at Town before their tour of Austria.

Front man Arquin is available on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, while a possible move for Millwall teenager Hughes-Mason was in the pipeline, but the boss has moved on from the duo.

“They’ve come and gone for now,” he said.

“Arquin did his hamstring, so I don’t think he’s quite fit enough yet anyway.

“Hughes-Mason is still affiliated to Millwall so unless anything happens with him and Millwall release him we won’t do anything.

“At this stage he’s not one we’re looking for in the first team at the moment, he’s one for the future. He’s not a priority at the moment.”

The "crisis" is not so bad now Ferry and Caddis got signed last night. For sure I think we are still looking for a front man, and with requests in for Ward and Darby back on loans things at last are looking up.

I also read the article in scotsman.com Does look kosher however untilTown announce it be wary, it said 2 bids were rejected?????
As to the truth in this remains to be seen, I do like all fans hope its on the level and not one of these Mickey mouse stories.
as to DW's comments August is only a week away so as normal Swindon practise it's wait and see.
I noticed marlon King is being released from prison and Coventry are looking at him maybe Town should.
So best of luck as to the possibilities ref Bolton Loans plus the Stephen darby one as well

Didn't see anything from him over at Ciren on Tuesday to suggest he will be signed.TBF to him it was a pretty poor playing surface, certainly not helpful for any side trying to play decent passing football. Reckon we have a real gem in the young lad Ball though, he is going to be a real fans favourite this season, and he will be with us longer than 6 months methinks.

Avo - I think that was DW's point - while he impressed he has not shown enough to be considered a first teamer now - so DW will focus on those players - i.e Ferry and Caddis.
.
Had he shown he would be one, then I'm sure DW would have made a move - but for now unless Millwall are prepared to let him go on a free transfer he won't be signing for STFC anytime soon.

Well if Fabio turns it on and gets a contract, he and O'Brien can battle it out for the left side. Which could push Ball up front as competition as he wouldn't need him to play left wing.Problems solved...hmm well food for thought...

Born in Barreiro, Ferreira began his playing career with Sporting Lisbon's youth team. On 6 January 2005, it was reported that Sporting had made a complaint to FIFA regarding Ferreira and two other players who had trained with Chelsea without any authorisation. However, in the summer of 2005, Ferreira still made a move from Sporting to Chelsea. In the following season, he became a professional, signing a contract with Chelsea. During the 2007–08 season, he made 12 appearances for the club's reserves, while scoring eight goals.

On 20 January 2009, Ferreira was loaned out to League One side Oldham Athletic on a one-month loan deal, before it was extended another month on 23 March. The day after the loan extension, Ferreira made his first professional debut in a 1–1 draw with Cheltenham Town, coming on for Deane Smalley in the 66th minute. Several moments after coming onto the pitch, the midfielder nearly had a goal in his debut, putting a header wide of the goal. He was eventually released by Chelsea.

At the beginning of the 2010/11 season, Ferreira trained with Scottish 2nd Division side Ayr United, but ultimately was not offered a contract.

Ferreira is currently on trial at English League One team Swindon Town FC, appearing for them in a pre-season friendly against non-league Cirencester Town
