Paynter given League One accolade

SWINDON Town striker Billy Paynter was this morning named Coca-Cola League One player of the month for January.

Paynter was in prolific goal-scoring in January, with five goals in four league games.

His scoring streak included goals against Gillingham, Stockport County, Leeds United and Southend United to help the Robins end the month in the play-off places.

Paynter beat Chris Lines of Bristol Rovers, Tamika Mkandawire of Leyton Orient and Norwich City's Chris Martin to the award, which was announced on Sky Sports' Soccer AM earlier today.
