Crocked Kanyuka set for lengthy spell on sidelines

PATRICK Kanyuka’s Town career could be over as the defender looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The 21-year-old was taken off after just 13 minutes of Saturday’s victory over Bristol Rovers with suspected damage to the cartilage in his knee, following an innocuous looking fall.

And it is the latest in a long line of injuries which have blighted Kanyuka’s time at Swindon.

The former QPR man was making his first start since the end of February following groin and calf knocks, and is out of contract at Town in the summer.

Boss Danny Wilson refused to be drawn on Kanyuka’s future, but admitted his injury record is a concern.

“We think it’s his cartilage, but we’re not sure,” revealed Wilson.

“It was nothing really – he’s just gone for a header, landed on his knee and twisted a little bit.

“We’re hoping it’s not as serious as we first think, but there’s a likelihood that it is.

“He’s out of contract but at this moment in time I wouldn’t like to comment on it. We’ll have to see the extent of it first.

“He’s had a few injuries this season and it’s disappointing from his point of view.

“I quite like the lad and think he can play, but he’s had a lot of injuries so we’ll have to take all that into consideration.”

Sorry Pat, like Barry Corr you appear to be extremely injury prone but unlike Barry Corr you are average at best in League One.

It's bad timing to get an injury but there's no room for sentiment in football.

He's got to go.

i dont understand why you're so keen to see the back of nearly every player, yet you'd offer the player who has spent the whole season on the injury table a month by month offer.

Yeah, Pat has to go. Even when he has a good game he isn't outstanding for league 1 !!
Not sure I would even offer Barry Corr a month by month offer

Could do a pay as you play type offer. Or pay as long as you are fit and able to play I should say. Do for both him and Corr.

Undecided on Pat really. He's had good games and bad games. He's never looked that great at the back for me (bit too relaxed and error prone) but on a few occasions has looked more than competant palying the holding midfield role, especially away at leicester... Just not sure if he's done enough in the time he's been here. Re: Corr, He's scored a few goals and is usually a handful when fit. How many chances do you give a player to prove his fitness though??

I am afraid that both Kanyuka and Corr are so injury prone, that it would be a waste of money to consider signing either of them.
A great shame though, particularly in the case of Barry Corr.

The difference between the 2 is very simple.....Corr has proved that he can do the most difficult and the most important thing in football - score goals, plus with his physical presence he really unsettles opposing defences.
And I'm sorry but players like Pat are much easier to find. Thanks for your efforts, Pat, and all the very best to you.

......oh and the other thing I meant to say was that, by doing a month-by-month arrangement, there is no financial risk to the Club if BC breaks down again. It makes total sense to me.

Don`t think Danny boy will keep either of them mate although i`m with you regarding Barry just think with so many clubs cutting the size of there squads he will have to use his budget wisely and with a lot more to choose from i think the pair of them will go.Thanks awfully old chaps must move on.

Whats the point of offering a month by month contract to Corr? You have to be match fit and playing reguarly to get into a good run of form, Sorry but Corr and Kanyuka will not be retained.

Ohh dear.....I've explained THE POINT above....read it again. You need to pay attention ;0)
Managers very often show more patience with goalscorers. There isn't a conveyor belt. They are the most important players and the most difficult to find.
