Bodin completes Torquay move Bodin completes Torquay move

BILLY Bodin has completed his move to Torquay after passing a medical at Plainmoor.

The striker has signed a two-year deal with Martin Ling’s side having enjoyed a loan spell with the club last season, in a transfer the Advertiser believes is worth close to £70,000.

"It's been a weird summer [of speculation] but nice to come back here after a good spell on loan last season," said Bodin.

"It was strange how last year worked out and certainly not what I expected, but I am hoping to settle down to a good season ahead here at Torquay.

"I will now be with the lads from the start of pre-season and we will be hoping to enjoy another good campaign. A lot of the lads I knew from last year are still here, so it's not daunting to be starting afresh once again.

"The fans were really good to me last year and we will be looking to go one step further and getting promotion this time around.

"Martin Ling brought me here last year and has been a great manager for the club. I am hoping to do him proud and show the fans why he brought me back."

Cant see that ! Paul has made something of a 50/50 decision because his progress was out of step with that of Swindon Town. He was unlikely to keep up with the Di Canio express and has made a good decision i.m.o.

Good luck Billy. I can't help but think he will become a great player. Showed very good potential.

It is hard not to want success for Torquay United. With Martin Ling, Shaun Taylor, Craig Easton and now Billy Bodin at the club, we all hope that Torquay United will be the next League Two champions. It is a pity that Billy had to leave, but we have had players leave Swindon for Torquay in the past including Paul Trollope permanently and Alan McCloughlin on loan, with both players later becoming full internationals.

Quite surprised father Paul isn't in the picture, but I wouldn't be surprised if he also joins soon.

Well Billy , you have your move, time now to nuckle down and show us what you are made of, good luck for the future. Have a great season, we will be watching how you get on, gone, but never forgotten.

Amusingly it mentions Misun having a spell with Swindon without mentioning that most of us never realised he was here and the rest of us never knowing when he left. :O)

Closest Danny Wilson will get to Milan, unlike Di Canio who played for them.

If Sheffield United were 27 points clear on Boxing Day, I still think they wouldn't go up. There team bus would be hit by an out of control Zeppelin, or attacked by killer bees, or some other reason like one of their best players being detained at Her Majesty's pleasure.

Sheff Utd can sign whoever they want in defence but they need to replace Ched Evans to be a threat.....

Hope Billy does a great job for Torquay - for him it is probably the best move and I'm sure he will start most weeks if not every week which is what he wanted. Not convinced Torquay will be in the promotion frame though.

London Red, only just seen your comment on other thread re Alan Connell - I don't see why a sense of fairness and wanting to recoup some money from his transfer are mutually exclusive.

Paul??

At least he has realised he has a better chance there rather than sticking with his 'hometown' club in the shadow of his father.
Never looked great for me, bit behind the pace of the game though I know there were a couple of good/important goals in there.

Good luck to him anyway.

See ya , anyone who leaves a club because he thinks he's good enough to start and then joins a club in the league below is delusional. You have the chance to learn under DiCanio, work hard, learn and be better. Instead you end up at a proper tin pot club.
