SWINDON TOWN: Kerrouche contract cancelled

Mehdi Kerrouche has had his contract with Swindon Town cancelled by mutual consent Mehdi Kerrouche has had his contract with Swindon Town cancelled by mutual consent

STRIKER Mehdi Kerrouche has had his contract with Swindon Town cancelled by mutual consent.

The Algerian frontman scored eight goals in 18 appearances for the Robins after arriving in Wiltshire last summer, but fell out of favour with manager Paolo Di Canio during the second half of last season.

Kerrouche, who spent time on loan at Oxford last term, is now free to find another club ahead of the new campaign.

Shame about Kerrouche but obviously has the wrong attitude and rightly if thats the case we have to move on and so does he and maybe he has learnt a very harsh lesson. Too many players with big chip on their shoulders and Kerrouche is one of them.

Maybe I go to games with my eyes shut, but his attitude looked fine every time I saw him play. Certainly not one of PDC's worst signings. There must be half a dozen ahead of him on that front.

You don't know whether he has a chip on his shoulder, all you know for sure is he fell out with our manager, or do you receive privileged information down there in Southampton?

Trouble is fine in your eyes, but not apparently for the managers.
I never saw him that much but did hear he was a loose cannon.
Looked sharp to me - but if he ain't doing what is asked of him on the field can see why he did not fit in.

If being a loose cannon was enough justification for the sack, PDC would have been shown the door long ago. There is no looser cannon than him, and there are no signs that he is becoming a more controlled one than he's ever been. I bet he has Wray and his colleagues on edge half the time, wondering which direction the firework will go off in next. But they take the whole package, warts and all. I don't know the facts behind Kerrouche's fall from favour but, as with everything in life, I doubt that he was 100% wrong.

We had a big squad and only a few have had that aimed at them which must mean they are not the norm

There is an article linked to the story on the BBC where PdC say he needs to train better and learn no I in team - that was pre rovers - so I think we know the outcome of that warning

Kerrouche had a terrible attitude which myself and my family witnessed first hand, I'm not at all surprised he has been moved on, I only hope he appologised to the young lady who works in the Swindon Superstore at the CG before he left. He should learn both how to be a little bit more humble and the correct way to speak to young ladies.
Now Legod....I'm a Pinehurst lad, born in Whitworth Rd, moved to Tovey Road before finishing up in Limes Avenue before moving to the other side of the Town, I hope this does not mean you will now form some sort of judgement on me for that? I often enjoy your posts and would be disapointed to think that you pre-judge people because of what part of the Town they originate from. I had a wonderful time growing up in Pinehurst meeting some of the most honest people you could ever wish to meet, a place where a spade was a spade and people were upfront. I'm sure yours was just a comment made in the spur of the moment after a bit of toing and throwing between you and Steve so I hope you can rectify that before some other posters take real offence, not everyone will remember there is no tone in texts, e-mails etc so hopefully both you and Steve can draw a line under this and forget the upset....just be a little bit more careful in the sweeping statements department.

Big Shame, at one point early in the season nobody could get enough of Mehdi Kerrouche. His name called and chanted all around County Ground, then it went all wrong, sour and now very bitter.

We all know that on his day he can score amazing goals, but two men with Mediterranean temperament in one camp were never going to agree on some issues . I wish him well and I suspect he will head back to North Africa.

One more off the payroll and some searching for clubs for some others we can be assured of.

It's a real shame that he fell out with Di Canio, IMO we've lost out on a good player here, always worked hard on the pitch when I saw him, decent finisher too.

I think Di Canio has too much pride to be honest, just because he thought he was 'lazy' in training doesn't mean he didn't put the work in on the pitch.

Di Canio, you got this wrong, should have played him and kept him, good player.

Good luck to him wherever he goes unless it's the Pox - then I don't give a $hit how he does :')

Have to say Steve, I fnd it very hard to understand why Legod says he has never seen you post on here before. Always polite and sensible post for as long as i can remember.

By the way I was brought up in Pinehurst in the fifties, salt of the earth and a good school that was always at the front when it came to sport. It's up to the club who got them and who didn't - so I would be surprised they would request an extra for him

PdC won the league and is the main pull in ALL our signings - don't think he got that much wrong!

Kerrouche missed out on a Wembley final, a winners medal and a sucessful career in England - think he got a lot wrong!
Lanzano, Comazzi, Magera, Esajas, Atiku - every one of them a dud. PDC did a fantastic job in the end. However, there's no denying that he was very lucky to have a board that was generous/brave/far sighted enough to give him the chance to correct his mistakes. In today's game, where short-termism rules the roost, many directors would have hit the panic button after the disastrous start we had.

Devon Red, Think those pe-fab tin houses were only meant to be up for 10 years, last time I drove over that way they were standing.

i think Southbrook was more a home for you lot. Did used to enjoy a pint sometimes in the Inn there.
Another Pinehurst boy here. Remember Mrs Scutts who ran the Southbrook? Formidable old bird she was. I've been there for a pint or two recently. It's still got that country pub feel about it.

Well he never got his name read out or presented with a medal - but was there

Gabilando for example did

That would suggest to me he was not given one

It's up to the club who got them and who didn't - so I would be surprised they would request an extra for him
.
1 minute by the way "qualifies" you - doubt Clarke and Boateng got one despite "qualifying" either
What defines "qualifying", I thought it was at least 10 appearances, but we know some players still got medals without playing that many. Bodin and Cibbo wasn't mentioned either. I think you'll find we were given 18 medals by the league that were dished out at the time of the Open day, extras were ordered later.

Just for once LR, instead of having a pop at me with your comparison with Clarke and Boateng just because I've asked how you know how you know Kerrouche did not get a winners medal, why don't you admit you might be wrong for once in your life and you don't know it as fact that meudi never got a medal. If he didn't, then it would seem STFC were being vindictive towards a player that appeared 18 times and scored 8 goals which cant be compared with the 2 you mentioned. I would find that hard to believe, especially after Paolo said publically he would be treated the same as every other player.

Played for Penhill back in the sixties--went out with a girl who lived near the Ferndale school--am still in touch with her--had some great games against Ferndale and Pinehurst--also played for Southbrook--went to Pinehurst infants until Penhill opened--enjoy all posts on this site

Yep I remember her - she threw me out once for swearing in the lounge bar - and it was only the 'bl00dy' word. I think is was Dorothy and Jack Scutts, then Bob took over and the place has done well since.
The building I believe was originally a farmhouse.

Getting long time absentee's like Magera and Lanzano off our books would be a start today.
Sadly it has not worked out here for either, and we are still paying them, and Lanzano as good as said at Christmas he wanted out.

I'm pretty sure you're right on the first names. I definitely remember Jack. Yes, it was a farmhouse. Not sure when it became a pub.

Steve-Brentford - never seen you post on here before so your obviously a fan of Douglas and following him around his clubs. Well i saw Kerrouche attitude in games and he was taken off after 20 minutes at Colchester for his attitude he was taken off early against Rovers away and Steve shouldnt you be on the Brentford forum? T**T
I don't know Steve, but I've been posting on here for several years and he has also been a regular poster for as long as I can remember. You've made yourself look a bit silly here, especially by jumping to the wrong conclusion about who he supports, when your name is a clear reference to a former Southampton player. That's a strange choice for a Swindon fan, don't you think?

Sorry this is off the subject a bit but your quite right Oi Den/Chish the Southbrook is Grade 2 listed and was built in the late 18th century as a farm house. Don't know when it opened its doors as a pub. I also remember Old Ma Scutts she was a right old dragon !!! Hope the Courage is better now than it was when I drank in there.
