MIGUEL Comminges has turned down a new contract at the County Ground and is expected to sign for Championship outfit Cardiff City this summer.

The Town full back has fast become a fans' favourite in his first season in English football but, after much stalling, has decided his future lies elsewhere.

The Guadeloupe international made 32 league starts for Town and this week won the Supporters' Club and Disabled Supporters Group's player of the year award.

A great shame - especially as I turn my calendar to May!! However, if he doesn't want to play for us then he should go. Just hope we can get another player as good/better than him.

So much for all those "He's off to Plymouth" rumours.

Fair play to Miguel though, he wants to test himself at a higher level, and sooner rather than later. I do wish this players would stop with the public "I'd love to stay at Swindon" stories. Why not just be honest, as Pook has, and said I'm happy to weigh up my options.

The most likely reason for this is that the players don't want to play for Malpas. red army!! - take note.

We are offering these players fair contracts, so it is not about Mr. Fitton. What would be more important to you as a footballer - the guy who writes the checks in the background or the guy who you see every day and determines whether you get to play or not....

Er....bit of an overreaction there?! Do you not think that the most LIKELY reason is that he is like any other footballer - he wants to play at the highest level possible. Cardiff are the league above us, have quality in the team like Fowler and Hasslebaink, have the POSSIBILTY of European football next season, and is not far from Swindon so he doesnt have to move too far away. He has given us a great season this year, and i dont blame him for going - thanks Migs!
I guess Swindon AOK is one of the people who now reject every obvious reason for any event relating to our club now, and blame it on Malpas.

Im not sure i believe the "Peacock to Blackpool" rumour though!!

I will watch with great interest to how Migs plays for Cardiff. He has clearly been ina different class at Swindon, that was evident with his pinpoint crosses.

It is a great shame to lose such a fantastic talent. A biggest shame that we could not offer him anything to keep him. Good Luck Migs, after the season you've given us... You deserve your chance! Do us a favour. Take it and run like the wind!

In what way does it speak volumes?! A player has held out for a better contract offer at a higher placed club and got the deal he wanted. Perhaps if he had gone to another league one club, there may be something wrong in the background, but to me it just sounds like a standard footballing decision. Also Jack Smith is a adequate Right Back for the time being (as proven in his last few games). And Zaboob? Even under Sturrock he was majorly inconsistent and gave the ball away in dangerous positions, and although he occasionally has flashes of genius, I think we are better rid of him.

I really think that people use these normal footballing decisions for their own “criticism” purposes.

Unfortunately, when you play a 'consistently good game all season' you get noticed and pounced upon from the higher levels. It's natural and his inspirations is more pay rather than loyalty. That said, thank you for your service this 'difficult' promotion season, hopefully we will find a decent replacement. Good luck,,

Dear myopic Russ - get real son equate his opportunity with one of your own - you are offered a better position at work -you are offered an increased salary and you can see the prospect of improving your career so what do you do? You go of course and take advantage of the moment - footballers are no different to anyone else -they don't owe loyalty any more than any other employee in any walk of life.

Russ the diference between Smith and Commi is that Smith could only be offered 600quid a week here , the latter would have been offered considerably more by three or four times .
While I side with Smith I don't side with Migs , he can sod off and languish mid table in the Championship.
Cardiff can only get in Europe if they beat Pompey and that ain't gonna happen.

the difference between migs and peacs is the age as well. migs will be looking to peak within the next 2-3 years so if he can get the chance to play a league higher hes bound to take it. peacs on the otherhand is what, 33 now? hes more likely to sign for us straight away to see out his career. not that im doubting his love of the club, he clearly does love us!

as for loyalty. well its long gone as far as i can see. when the top clubs have all the money and only a certain number of clubs are going to succeed, preventing anyone else from progressing as a club up the divisions, there will never be much loyalty in this sport.
