NEW Town chairman Andrew Fitton confirmed that he and his consortium had taken 'full control' of Swindon Town Football Club.

At a delayed scheduled press conference at the County Ground this morning he also revealed that he plans to make public a 10-point plan of action while also announcing a completely new Town board.

Joining Fitton in the boardroom will be Jeremy Wray, new chief executive Nick Watkins and Russell Backhouse all who replace the previous regime.

Town's new chairman also confirmed that multi-millionaire Sir Martyn Arbib will not be joining the board but is a shareholder of the club.

Speaking at the press conference Fitton said: "Of now, we are completely in control.

"The board will be made up of myself, Jeremy Wray, Russell Backhouse, Nick Watkins.

"I will act as chairman and that will be the board for the forseeable future.

"Sir Martyn Arbib is not joining the board, but is a shareholder."

Fitton went on to ask for supporters' patience as the new board attempt to move the club forward whilst also paying tribute to the previous owners of the club.

He added: "Change is already happening and in a way we should be grateful to the previous owners because they have given us access over the last few weeks and allowed us to make plans and small changes.

"We are going to release a 10-point plan in the next few days of what we want to get done so that people can visibly see change.

"I have one message that I want the fans to remember what it was like two or three weeks ago so that they can guage improvement against that.

"The message is to be patient and to allow things to progress."

Finally, welcome Mr Fitton - you are a breath of fresh air after the years of stagnation and decay. When you do get time in your busy schedule, can you confirm that a certain Mr Diamandis will no longer have any dealings with our football club in the future.

Our Board, now have full control of the club. Working hard each day to resolve outstanding issues & being proactive in the clubs future. As soon as these remaining problems have been reconciled I’m sure they will be the first to break the good news to the fans. I.e. outstanding payments cleared, embargo lifted, future transfers & stadium redevelopment.
Our new manager has now been officially unveiled & with sights on the playoffs, of which he said "It's an achievable goal and one that the players want as well.” He also mentioned, about tonight’s game before it was called off, that DB would be in charge which shows the admiration, respect & continuity in the team that MM has for DB & it has been well deserved. His reward is to be his No.2. AW warrants the same amount of praise as his remit in the club has been challenging to say the least since his arrival & we’re still in the cup!!
Our Fans have been so loyal to the club whatever their views. Let’s be tolerant & remember patience is a virtue. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it was worth waiting for. In this new era, we need to get behind the team, from top to bottom that is STFC!!

There's so many changes to be made - AF and Co must be wondering what on earth they've taken on.
