BREAKING NEWS: Fitton & Co confirm they are 'in control'

NEW Town chairman Andrew Fitton confirmed that he and his consortium had taken 'full control' of Swindon Town Football Club.

At a delayed scheduled press conference at the County Ground this morning he also revealed that he plans to make public a 10-point plan of action while also announcing a completely new Town board.

Joining Fitton in the boardroom will be Jeremy Wray, new chief executive Nick Watkins and Russell Backhouse all who replace the previous regime.

Town's new chairman also confirmed that multi-millionaire Sir Martyn Arbib will not be joining the board but is a shareholder of the club.

Speaking at the press conference Fitton said: "Of now, we are completely in control.

"The board will be made up of myself, Jeremy Wray, Russell Backhouse, Nick Watkins.

"I will act as chairman and that will be the board for the forseeable future.

"Sir Martyn Arbib is not joining the board, but is a shareholder."

Fitton went on to ask for supporters' patience as the new board attempt to move the club forward whilst also paying tribute to the previous owners of the club.

He added: "Change is already happening and in a way we should be grateful to the previous owners because they have given us access over the last few weeks and allowed us to make plans and small changes.

"We are going to release a 10-point plan in the next few days of what we want to get done so that people can visibly see change.

"I have one message that I want the fans to remember what it was like two or three weeks ago so that they can guage improvement against that.

"The message is to be patient and to allow things to progress."
