BREAKING NEWS: Nalis trains with Town
Former Leicester and Plymouth midfielder Lilian Nalis took part in his first Town training session today.
The French veteran - hoping to earn a deal at the County Ground - was joined by Lee Peacock and Chris Allen, as the duo continue to recover from injury.
Peacock is expected to get some game time in the friendly with Plymouth in the hope he could feature in the season's opener against Tranmere.
Craig Easton is also on the comeback trail and is expected to train on Tuesday.

Could be a decent signing age might play a factor in it though still dont think mm is the right man for the job, but we will see, i think we need a new striker get rid of BP and BS and barry corr he will just get injured all the time, Super Sammy Parkin would b nice to c back at the county ground and i think he would do well and plus it would help with the race to 6k because otherwise we wont make it thats get real guys!

with due respect Craigy.Baby your logic is slightly flawed...how can you say get rid off BC because he is injury prone and in the same sentence say we should get in SP? After all Sammy has been more or less permanently injured since he left us! At least Barry has youth on his side so we should at least let him get fully fit and give him a decent chance to prove he is the man for the job.

I believe as he is held in such high regard at Town, signing him would see a late flurish of season ticket sales. Apart from that, good to see Nalis training with Town and the chance of Peacock being ready for the start of the season is good news.

I do see your point M Mack, but as i said on another posting it is more about where MM spends his budget and as we have 5 strikers at present that area is not a priority. And i would be very suprised if Sammy could come back and carry on where he left off...highly unlikely but as you also pointed out if we did take him back the season ticket sales would probably increase by about 1000 immediately which would more than pay his wages! You never know MM&AF might just do it if we keep nagging them enough!

Signing Sam Parkin wouldn't create a surge of new season ticket holders at all. It's not like we had thousands of extra fans when Sam was about.
In fact the only reason we had semi decent attendances when Sam and Mooney were here was because we were in the play off area all year.

He has no recent form to judge him by and his wages are more than likely to be outside our threshold. Best remembered as he used to be. The only way i'd be happy if he returned would be on a short term loan deal, and that's only if Corr can't get back to fitness.

Surely this story should now be moved to the Broken News section.

BREAKING NEWS: Thought you'd all like to know that the jacket potato I've just had for lunch (it was a late one today) was slightly inferior to the one I had yesterday - but only because the avocado in the chicken, bacon and avocado filling was a little over-ripe. The potato itself was actually fine.

Hi Daz, I reckon when Corr is fit he'll be supersub for Peacs for a few games. If NMalis is up to scratch and if he gets in then Timlin or Easton will make way, J.P will play on the right until we get someone better.
I'm still not very confident though !!

Bearing in mind that Marshall may also have signed up by 9th August, I`ll bet none of us could pick the same squad as MM will announce to take on Tranmere.

We might if we knew who he'd signed, you can bet your life Alijofree will be in though and I' definately have Morrison on the bench.

Sorry, i just reread the bit about based on who we have got signed at the moment, i feel that we could do better than J.Vincent for a first choice,By the way don`t anyone think that the ex Swansea lad(sorry i normally call him Akinthingy)will feature in the first 11.

Corr and Roberts are injured as we all know. I think Easton is expected to be 100% by August 9th . Anyone else injured at present ?

He started struggling last season playing with Alijofree so I'm really hoping that the latter isn't paired with him this season.

I agree with Steve (Brentford) Vincent at full back he is a weak link, he is a hoofer that has a problem with playing the ball on the ground! His best position is centre half where we have adequate cover.
I would have preferred Nicho being kept on rather than Vincent, he is nothing better than at best a fringe player.

Vincent is the weakest link....he can't pass the ball and loses possession to easily. Does anyone know whether Nico got a new club?

We would take 30,000 to wembley for a play off final. What a shame we can't get at least half of them to commit every other week during the season. The club really can't give a bigger incentive that they have with the season ticket prices as they are now. Shame really, but I do believe things will chamge and we are on the up.

Agree Macker, and fair do's Mr L.
I do think that it may be the "commitment" problem that is stopping a lot of newbies from signing up to a seasons entertainment at the CG.
9 Months or so's a long time to sacrifice, so on the positive side maybe a heck of a lot of new supporters may turn up on a weekly basis, to check out how things are going.
Maybe next year's the time to really push forward with season ticket sales, and when you see we've nearly sold 5,000 this close season, I think it's a pretty decent result.

I can't believe out of the large Town of Swindon that we can't find 6000 people to purchase a season ticket. Theres no denying there is definately more than 6000 Swindon Town fans, so those who haven't yet brought a season ticket 'COME ON'. The new board have made a genuine effort for the fans of Town by pricing the ticket not only affordable but cheap. So lets show our appreciation to Fritton & Co by purchasing a season ticket and push Swindon Town all the way to the championship this season.

My 19 year old son who was born in Stockport and never lived in Swindon is an absolute Swindon Town nutcase...he is in the navy now but used to go to all the matches with me and loves going to edgerley park to see Swindon beat the locals! So there are lots of Town fans but as i said they are scattered all over the country.

You might have a good point with the fact that even though Swindon is a big town, how many are actual Swindonians. People come to the town for work at places like Honda, but bring their club loyalties with them. They would never consider watching another team.

Thats an excellent point you made there M Mack, i occasionally go to Old Trafford, Man City, Anfield etc but there is absolutely no passion in that for me...when i watch my team Swindon even now after supporting them as man and boy for 42 years i get so excited and emotional, and i am counting the days before the season starts! I absolutely love the Town and no way would i ever support another team...so i can understand people coming to Swindon not supporting us. What annoys me so much M Mack is seeing young kids with Chelsea, Man U etc shirts on but they have never been to see those teams play...it annoys me so much, i first took my lad when he was only about 3 to watch the Town and he was never in any doubt that Swindon were his one and only team...as i said above he is now a Town nutcase and loves the club as much as i do, he often phones me from Plymouth or Scotland just to talk about our new signings etc...Me and my son are travelling down from the High Peak for the 1st home match of the season, the thought of going to Old Trafford instead is an absolute non starter!

[/quote] Yep! if somebody offered me the choice of Man U tickets or tickets for The County Ground, it's a no brainer. I watched the Tyne/Wear derby at The Stadium of Light a little while back and although it was a great day out, I was detached a little as it really didn't mean that much to me. My point was actually your point, meaning that as you are a Town fan up north, the same goes for fans of other clubs moving to Swindon and not wanting to watch their new local club because they would feel like traitors and rather than travel a couple of miles, they will still travel across the country to watch their team. I lived in Monmouth for a few years and Hereford were close, but I only went there to watch the Town and travelled to home games rather than just pop down the road. I'm sure I'm right in saying that Swindon has a higher percentage of non locally born and bred people than other towns due to the employment situation in the town. Maybe this is why we are struggling to reach 6000 in a town as big as Swindon, even at the great current price for a season ticket.

Hi, I claim the title as one of the longest distance Swindon fans - I hqve lived in Sydney since 1979 (and supported Town since 1963) and I hqve managed to see about 2 or 3 games a season for the past 10 years thanks to a job that involves travel 5last season i saw STFC 5 Gills 0, 3 0 win over Cheltenham and a very depressing 1 0 home loss at the end of the season which I have tried to blot from my memory and have succeeded in forgeting the opposition, Southend I think.
Anyway, I agree I would much rather watch Swindon (or Hartlepool, my second team) than any premier leqgue team. In fact I have only ever seen 2 premier league games live (both last season), both because I Swindon was playing at the other end of the country and my itinerary wouldnt let me get there.
So go the Town and I wish I could join the 6000 (although the weather and surf are a bit better in Sydney). Cheers Steve

To steve and stevehalloz, its good to know there are lots of other Town fans who travel the country to watch Swindon...my wife thinks i am mad (She is a Manchester girl but i have even converted her to a Swindon supporter)! I remember the 1st game last season i left home early and drove down to Cheltenham by myself (my son was in the Caribean with the navy so couldnt come with me) watched the game and then got stuck on the M6 for about 4 hours on way home, i got home about midnight if i remember and was absolutley exhausted...but it was a great day even though we only drew but should have won! The best part was being with all the other Town fans...about 1800 were there that day and it was like a home match for us, we totally outsang the Cheltenham supporters. I am now planning on driving down to Swindon for the Tranmere match with my son who is home on leave...my wife just cant believe what a Town nutcase we both are...but i just cant wait and a win would make the day perfect. Great chatting to you guys.
