FROM THE DUG OUT: Town boss Maurice Malpas looks for next victory

"Confidence is a strange thing. A couple of defeats and it does drain away but a couple of goals and you are flying again.

We have to keep on working away. We know the situation we are in in the league and it is important now we stay together as a team.

The harder we work the luckier we will get. I can't keep on telling players we have played well but lost. We have to get a victory by hook or by crook before panic sets in.

There is no team in the land that will play well every week. You are judged on your results. At the moment we are not being effective because we are not picking points up and that is something we have to work on.

God know how many times we have missed good opportunities to score in recent weeks. I would say we had three great chances today and one at least should go in.

It is important it does not become panic either from the fans or the players. It is important we do get victories though. We don't want to get drawn into any relegation battle. I think panic would set in then.

My target is to win every game we play. My target is to win at Tranmere.

We need a win some place. Everyone says the 52-point mark is safety I think we have to look beyond that.

We were told if it happened again to Barry Corr he would probably have to go for surgery so his season is finished and I believe you could be talking about six months.

It is disappointing for the club but more importantly disappointing for the player. He has been on to me every day to play and this is a big blow for the boy.

Speaking the other day to him, he said this was the fittest he has felt for a long time. Last season he had his back problem and could not train.

That affected him at the start of this season and since I came here he has had his shoulder problem. He has not started many games under me and what can I say that will really help him?

He has just been unlucky. We thought he was fit enough to handle it but obviously that was not the case.

We have to think about him first. He will be back from this it is just a case of being a lengthy lay-off. It is a long haul for the lad and is depressing for the lad.

It is real frustration for Barry. He has worked his tail off for six weeks. He has been involved in training and has looked good. Today he goes on, is desperate to do well and gets the same injury again."
