  Charlie Austin certainly would not have qualified as a "blow your socks off" signing at the time. But he definitely blew everyone's socks off in his short time at the County Ground.

  Grim, I was thinking about him when I put my post up! Yes, he was useless. We signed Colin Barrett from Forest and Andy Rollings from Brighton at the same time. All high profile - and all did nothing for us.

  Den Can't remember Rollings and Barrett, just goes to show what a poor defence we had that year, or we're they any good?. I remember most names but not those two.   No, Colin Prophett (or was his surname Prophettog?) was signed a few years earlier, from Sheff W I think. That joke may be a bit unfair - not a bad centre half for the third division but he did have a habit of finding the wrong net.
