Gabilondo on target in Swindon reserves defeat

LANDER Gabilondo scored but was unable to prevent a youthful Swindon side from losing 4-1 to Bristol City in a development match this afternoon.

The Spanish winger was one of three first team players who made the short trip down the M4, along with Nathan Thompson and Abdul Said.

Gabilondo has dropped down the pecking order in the first team following last month's arrival of Luke Rooney.

But he did his chances of catching the eye of Paolo Di Canio no harm by scoring the equaliser in today's reserve match after Marlon Jackson had put the hosts ahead.

Gabilondo smashed home from close range after being picked out by Ben Whitehead's cross.

However, a strong City side proved too much for Town as further goals from Martyn Woolford, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Ryan Taylor sealed victory.

Town: Leigh Bedwell; Nathan Thompson, Aaron Oakley, Joe Chapman, Chris Sim; Eddie Stevens, Abdul Said, Harry Grant, Lander Gabilondo; Miles Storey, Ben Whitehead.

Substitutes: Conor Thompson, Connor Waldon, Mark Francis, Aaron Ferris, Alex Ferguson, Jake Simpson

Seems that the rocket launcher otherwise know as Esajas has dropped right off the radar, big shame, I expected more from him, very disappointed.
