Ady Williams
The lads have enjoyed the gaffer's first year
SO yesterday was Paul Sturrock's first year anniversary as Swindon Town manager and I think everyone would agree it has been a great year if you look at what has happened on the pitch.
Obviously I have missed the majority of it through being injured, but the manager has made sure I have been kept involved all the way through which I really appreciate.
It is easy to feel left out of things when you are injured but the manager has allowed me to get involved with the warm-up and a bit of coaching and I have enjoyed it, despite not really being involved on the field.
The lads in general have enjoyed the year under Paul Sturrock, even the boys who have not been in the team I think would tell you how good the spirit is at the club at the moment.
There is definitely something there at the moment. We know when we have let ourselves down, like the Port Vale game, but I don't think there have been too many times when that has happened over the last year.
The beauty of being a footballer is there is never too long to put things right and as a team, in our year under Paul Sturrock, we have been pretty good at making up for poor performances.
I don't think anyone is going to be too disappointed with the point we got on Tuesday against Leyton Orient though.
They were by far the best team we have played this year. They almost reminded of the Watford side in the Championship a few years ago when they went up.
They were quick and strong all the way through the team and had players everywhere who looked like they would cause problems.
The boy Adam Chambers in midfield was a fantastic athlete, while Adam Boyd was full of tricks up front and their two centre halfs looked very good as well. If they continue to play like that I would say they will be bankers for promotion.
I know it doesn't work like that but I certainly expect them to be up all there season, depending on not getting too many injuries.
I know it sounds funny saying it, but I actually enjoyed watching them.
They were pleasing on the eye and you could see why they have won so many games.
Having said that I think we put quite a bit of pressure on them ourselves and to get a last-gasp equaliser shows how we keep going right to the end.
For me personally it was nice to get out on the pitch before Tuesday's game and have a kick around. I trained on Sunday, had a few days rest, and will be training again today.
At the moment it is not about how I perform particularly, it is about getting as many days of training under my belt as possible.
Hopefully I will fit a reserve game in the next week or so and it is great being back involved again.
I am not yet thinking about a first team return because it is a step at a time.
I know I am probably still a couple of weeks away from that at the moment.
I went to watch the youth boys win their first round FA Cup youth match at Cheltenham last Tuesday and I was very impressed.
Very early in the match you could tell our lads were stronger, quicker and fitter than them and in the end they probably made it harder work than it needed to be. But some of these boys have good futures ahead of them.
They enjoyed a great run in the competition last year and received fantastic publicity.
Everyone likes to read about themselves from time to time.

Never mind Ady Williams, only six months to go before Paul Sturrock can look for another club rather than another club looking for him. C'mon Fitton & Wills get your finger out.
