Looking solid, so how did we lose to Swans?

Club skipper Ady Williams' reflects on an unjust defeat at the Liberty Stadium, and the potential of on-loan striker Simon Cox.

Tuesday night's defeat at Swansea has been a bit of a story of our season, because we played quite well and did not get the rewards for the performance.

If you look at the games against Northampton, Cheltenham and Crewe, we deserved to win all of them, but only got draws.

Not being disrespectful to Swansea but the best team lost and even when they were 1-0 up, I always thought we were capable of getting back in the game.

When we equalised it was then one-way traffic and and I really thought we would get the maximum points.

I can't quite believe we haven't yet kept a clean sheet. I was talking to Jamie Vincent on the way home and was saying how well I think the defence have actually played this campaign.

No matter who has played there, we have looked solid all season and have deserved at least a couple of clean sheets. We have to make sure we start getting them though because, with the goals we now have in the side, confidence would be high we would start getting wins.

I am looking at this season full of optimism, because to be honest I still haven't really seen a decent side in this league yet. I haven't walked away at 4.50pm on a Saturday and thought what a good outfit the team we have played are.

Maybe Nottingham Forest and Leeds United will be a different story but we have to be quite confident after the start we have made.

We have been to two terrific stadiums in the last few days, with Millwall's New Den and Swansea's Liberty Stadium.

But I can remember going to the old Den and the Vetch Field and I have to admit I don't think these new grounds do these teams any favour.

The atmosphere in the old days at these places was really intimidating and was like a 12th man but now I think teams actually enjoy going there and playing them.

The dressing rooms are beautiful, they have big baths and showers and the intimidation factor has gone a bit.

Having said that you would not mind playing there every week, although I still think it works against these teams.

When I was at Reading, Simon Cox was just a young boy coming through the ranks and he had something about him even in those early days.

When he signed as a professional, Reading manager Steve Coppell thought a lot of him and I think that is why Swindon could only get him on loan initially.

His contract, I think, is out this summer so who knows what will happen then?

He is a very confident lad but I would not confuse that with arrogance. He just has faith in his own ability and I think you need that as a striker.

He and Billy Paynter have come in and added something extra up front. Billy obviously is brilliant at holding the ball up while Simon is a bit different and they compliment each other well.
