Williams: 'We've almost cracked it'

I think it was on the cards that someone was going to take a bit of a thumping and we did it against Bournemouth on Saturday.

If we can gel the first-half performance against Hartlepool and the second-half display against Bournemouth together, I think we have got it cracked.

Many more performances like the second half on Saturday and I am sure we will be at the right end of the table come the end of the season.

Ten minutes before half time I don't think anyone would have believed we were going to run out easy winners because Bournemouth were probably having the better of the game.

But the manager had a few choice words at half time and the lads responded. We have to make sure we start doing it for the whole game though.

I have seen a lot more of the youngsters at the club over the last six months because during my time injured I have helped them a bit.

It is good news for Tom Evans to get another Wales under 19 call-up but I think his next aim has to be to start breaking through into the first team squad.

It is the same for Ben Tozer and Chris Allen really. They have to start getting themselves into contention for the first team as that is their next natural step.

The youth set up at Swindon has done really well. Jeremy Newton and Dave Byrne work every day with them and you can see how they are progressing.

A lot of those kids have a big future if they can continue their progress, keep working hard and also get that break you need in football.

I enjoyed my brief time at Millwall when I was there on loan and I am sure it will prove a difficult place for us to go on Saturday.

There are always great people around the club, some great characters, and I know they have good players.

There has been a big clearout since I was there but the likes of Danny Robinson, Ben May and Richard Shaw are still there and they are good players.

I am sure there will be a few familiar faces but hopefully we can carry on from Saturday's result and continue our decent start to the season.

I think I was as surprised as everyone else to see Jose Mourinho leave Chelsea last week. The bookies had him at 20/1 to be the first manager in the Premier to go and they don't normally get it wrong.

I don't think anyone expected him to go so soon and he will certainly be missed.

I go along with the people who say he was a breath of fresh air.

I know they say he was arrogant but I really enjoyed what he brought to English football.

His press conferences were very enjoyable and you can be sure it won't be long before he is back in football.

I still think the majority of managers are given a decent amount of time to prove themselves at their club.

There are a few who resigned or are sacked very early on but I still believe these cases are few and far between.

It certainly hasn't put me off one day wanting to be a manager.
