Ady Williams
Price to pay for TV coverage
Club skipper Ady Williams reacts to defeat in front of the Sky Sports cameras and the impact on the gate.
THE result against Yeovil was disappointing to say the least because at half-time I thought there was only going to be one winner.
All it needed was for somebody to produce that little bit of magic and I think Yeovil were there for the taking.
It was also disappointing to concede a goal from a set-piece because we keep banging on about how important set-pieces are in League One.
The crowd of 6,900 wasn't bad but it could have been better. I suppose with the game being shown on Sky and it being on a Sunday afternoon there were excuses to stay away.
I can remember the Birmingham City chairman saying last season he didn't want to play on Sky because they lost about 9,000 fans to the television.
Yes it's nice to be on TV because it means your friends all around the country can watch you and you are putting yourself in the shop window.
But as a player you just want to see bums on seats. You want to play in front of the biggest audience possible.
I remember saying that our bench looked very strong on Sunday which a positive sign. To have players with the calibre of Cox, Paynter and McGovern waiting to come on is a big plus.
Paul Sturrock has a few big decisions to make in terms of selection, but he has done that for a number of years and I'm sure he'll make the right choices for Swindon.
It's a results business and managers live and die by the sword so Paul will be thinking long and hard about the best team to pick for the match at Hartlepool.
The trouble is, nobody really had a poor game against Yeovil. It was strange because I felt we played quite well but the result just didn't go our way.
The off-field developments before kick-off did not really affect the players, so that was no excuse.
To be honest, there could be a riot going on outside the ground and the players would not take any notice because all they are thinking about is the game.
The first we really heard about Jose Veiga was reading about it all in the paper on Monday morning.
I don't think his arrival will affect the players too much because we are paid to train and to play and that's all that really concerns us.
Every player wants to be involved in a successful club and a healthy club.
Hopefully this takeover will soon be complete and it will all be positive news for the club.
But I have to reiterate as a team our job is to win football matches.
We got that winning feeling last year and we want it again.
Hartlepool will be another tough test but it's a game that holds no fear for us. We will go there looking for the three points as always.
It should be a good battle between two evenly matched sides. Hopefully we can come out on top.
