Lads have a chance to become TV stars

Club skipper Ady Williams looks forward to the arrival of the Sky Sports cameras on Sunday.

SUNDAY is the big match against Yeovil Town on Sky Sports and the television cameras always bring an extra edge to the game.

There are bound to be a few players with butterflies as they walk out of the tunnel but my advice to them is to work hard and enjoy it.

The last thing I want to see when I'm watching a game on the television is players moaning and swearing all the time.

There will no doubt be lots of scouts watching, as well as fans from all across the country, so it's a great chance to impress.

The fact we are playing Yeovil will also add some spice to it. I guess you could call it a local derby which is why Sky have decided to screen it.

I was down at Yeovil a couple of weeks ago with the reserve team and it's a really good set-up down there.

As a club they have gone from strength to strength since their promotion from the Conference.

It will be a good match, but the players must remember there are three points at stake.

After dominating our last two league matches and only coming away with draws it's important that we make this one count.

The performance against Brentford in midweek should help because it will give the players lots of confidence.

I think that game went fantastically well and I bet the gaffer must have been over the moon.

All the young lads did very well, although many of them are young men now.

There comes a time when you have to grow up fast and they should all be aiming for a regular place in the first team squad.

I thought the crowd were excellent as well. It was a fantastic idea to bring the kick-off forward and reduce the ticket prices because it got more kids into the ground.

They got to see four goals from Swindon and who knows maybe even found some new heroes.

Arrieta's goal was a fantastic finish, although I think his first touch meant he had to go for the overhead kick. It came as no surprise to me because I have seen how good his finishing is at training.

He knows it will take a little time to adapt to the style of English football but he certainly reminded everyone what he can do.

Watching the interview with Trevor Brooking the other night it is clear that the debate over foreign footballers in England has been re-opened.

I was lucky enough to come through the youth ranks at Reading and progress into the first team, but some lads at the bigger clubs are not so lucky.

It can't be easy to see a player for France or Holland or Italy come in and take your place.

That's why it's so important that clubs like Swindon invest time in their academies.

Our opponents on Saturday, Crewe Alexandra, are perhaps the best example of this outside the Premiership.

They are forever developing young talent and it's important we give these local lads a chance.

There is still room for the foreign players, but we need to make sure our own players are not overlooked in the process.

I was excited by the announcement of our three new signings on Friday.

I played with Simon Cox at Reading, although he was only a young lad then.

I know the coaching staff at the Madejski Stadium hold him in high regard and I don't think they would have let him go to anybody on a permanent basis.

A loan deal was the best anybody was going to get and Swindon are very lucky to have him.

He's only an hour down the road from Reading so their coaches can keep a close eye on him. Hopefully we can reap the rewards.

Jon-Paul McGovern had an excellent debut and some of his delivery was outstanding.

The gaffer likes to bring in players that he knows and that he thinks will gel well with the rest of the squad.

I've only known Jon for a couple of days but he seems like a lively character and he's settling in really well.
