Gazza’s STFC ReviewWhole New Beginning
Posted by Gazza’s STFC Review at 5:22pm on Tue 24 Jul 07
As we prepare for the final 2 weeks of the pre-season things are very different at Swindon Town F.C. This time last season we had Dennis Wise as manager in League 2, This season expectations will no doubt be high at Swindon with Paul Sturrock at the helm as we prepare for life back in League One.

Like many fans it has been hard to ignore the political situation at the County Ground however a good majority of the fans seem excited with tantalising fixtures such as Leeds United and Nottingham Forest fore coming this season.

How ironic is it that Dennis Wise will be at the County Ground this season? The over rated disloyal former Chelsea star will no doubt be welcomed back by a very hostile crowd at the County Ground this season after helping bring one of the former super powers in English Football into the third tier of the game only a few seasons after being in the Champions League. The club is sinking faster than Bradford.

Gillingham will be a spicy affair with former boss Iffy Onuora and former midfielder Aaron Brown added to the mix it will no doubt be a heated contest. Gillingham themselves say they are ready for a run at the Championship this season.

PREDICTIONS FOR THIS SEASON:

League One Champions: Nottingham Forest (Finally)
Runners up: Millwall

Playoffs: Oldham Athletic, Southend United, Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers

Relegation: Leyton Orient, Cheltenham Town, Port Vale, Carlisle United

Swindon Town Prediction: 10th-15th – Could be higher if Swindon Town manage to sign a decent strike force, We will be solid at the back however we look nothing more than a midtable side until we find as Paul Sturrock says “an ultimate goalscorer”

Leeds United Prediction: 10th-15th – the club will struggle. Nottingham Forest thought it would be easy and now they start their third season in League One, with barely any experienced heads and financial uncertainty hanging over the club, they will find it hard to compete this season.
