Andrew Andronikou’s comments about the fans on Saturday were bang out of order and I applaud the Trust for sending a letter onto Hacker Young asking for Andronikou to clarify his comments and to apologise. It will be interesting to see how Andronikou can justify insulting the customers of the company he is supervising.
I openly admit I do not back either the Fans consortium or the current board but common sense would say, you don’t insult the people who bring money into the business that you are meant to be supervising to pay off the creditors you represent.
These “busy bodies” are the ones who are helping to pay off the CVA by spending their hard earned money week in and week out to watch the team, buy programmes, food and merchandise at the County Ground.
These “busy bodies” also helped raise over £25,000 for the Red Army Fund to take some of the financial burden off the football club which went some way to helping the club to save money to pay towards the £100,000 yearly payments.
Without the fans Mr Andronikou, the club would have already gone into liquidation many years ago and you would have no CVA to supervise.
I like most Swindon Town fans would love to believe there is an investor out there willing to put money into the club and help take us forward but after many failed promises in the past of a brighter future and “more money than you can shake a stick at” this has only materialized once and that man left within 5 months.
You can hardly blame the fans for being cautious at the news of a new investor wanting to put money into the club.
Remember one thing.
The board are not Swindon Town F.C, Bill Power is not Swindon Town F.C, it’s the fans that are Swindon Town F.C.
This football club will be here long after the current board, the next board, the board after that, but the fans are here forever.
